There is no better way to experience Dunedin’s friendly culture and local business than the Saturday morning Otago Farmers Market. Located in the carpark of the spectacular Railway Station, it’s a must do for food lovers visiting the city.

Local and seasonal produce fill the stands every Saturday morning, while Dunedin’s finest buskers create a lively atmosphere. Locals and visitors alike visit the market weekly to stock up on the freshest food around, there’s something for everyone. Vendors include bakeries, butchers, orchards, vineyards local cafes and many more while food trucks can be found lining the streets selling anything from churros to fresh pasta.

If you’re there solely for the food and don’t want to miss out – go early! Gates open at 8 am and the market stays relatively quiet until 9:30 am. If bigger crowds and soaking up the atmosphere is more your style then don’t rush – closing time isn’t until 12:30 pm. Got kids? There’s plenty for them to enjoy too, face painters, balloon animal artists and musicians can be found entertaining the crowd every week.
